We set things off right last night beginning with a double dosage of good music from Consequence’s new mixtape, “Movies On Demand”. I have been a fan of Consequence’s flow and voice since the “Beats, Rhyme, Life” days and this free CD definitely doesn’t disappoint also boasting other heavyweights including: Kanye West, P. Diddy, Q-Tip, Common, John Legend, Pharoahe Monch, Talib Kweli, Rick Ross, Kid Cudi, The LOX, Asher Roth, Maino, Clinton Sparks. Go partake www.mediafire.com/?jtzvniyuxlj and www.ItsTheCons.com!
Interview/guest wise we were joined by Pug$ Atomz originally hailing from Chi Town; however, these days he is more a traveling man, touring across the USA and Europe. He took a few minutes out of his drive to SXSW to chat with us about touring, linking up with DJ Vadim and Sadat X, and how he is trying to do his part to maintain a balance in hip-hop.

The Black Phoenix and Global Syndicate crew also joined us in the house. Premiering some of their new material, talking about their favourite movie “The Anchorman”, and letting us know they are stoked to be hitting the road again this time with the D12 cats.

March 2n, 2010 PODCAST -- Rel!g!on
Here in Vancouver everyone is suffering from Olympic hangover. For 17 days we had an amazing buzz in the air, parties on every corner, and of course exceptional athlete performances to watch. Our Canadian athletes wind up setting a new Winter Olympics record with an impressive 14 gold metals. Perhaps, one of the biggest surprises is the amount of Americans, a 17 TV rating in fact, who were also talking about the final match up between the USA and Canada. That is a big yay for hockey, which is truly one of the best sports on the planet!
We tried to cheer up and fill the void of Vancouverites with that quality hip-hop. We had producer Rel!g!on join us to talk about his new CD “Revelationz I” as well as the creative process from sampling and playing beats to selecting MCs to rock on his beats.

We are extremely happy that the legendary Guru is making a full recovery from his heart attack and send our thoughts and prayers out to him and his loved ones. Decided that there is no time like the present to celebrate some of our favourite Guru verses.

URP Radio -- Feb. 9, 2010 -- Son Real plus Dilla tribute
We set things off right by paying homage to the late great J Dilla. Played a solid 20mins of some my favourite tracks Dilla blessed either with his rhymes or production. Stussy is also celebrating the life of this icon by releasing a limited edition tee. Various Stussy locations are taking it a step further by doing an event called “Dilla Day” with DJs catching wreck to Jay Dee and complimentary beverages. Yours truly will be doing the Van City edition @ Stussy at 49 Powell Street, so do yourself a favor and check it out.

Son Real isn’t scared to drop rhymes off the top of the dome as he showed us last night with a sick freestyle. Check him out at www.myspace.com/sonreal

Olympic anticipation is high in the V. Although the Olympic employment has claimed Big M it is also bringing some exciting shows to the city, including this week's Raekwon at Boss Nightclub as well as the Eyedea & Abilities show at the Biltmore. We have been giving away Raekwon tickets now for the last month courtesy of Black Phoenix, so you know we had to drop some of our favourite Chef tracks to prepare all the listeners and ticket winners for the W!

Eyedea also joined us to talk about his various new projects and bands. We discussed how he and Abilities are reconnecting with their fans and how natural things are these days and how they more poised than ever as artists. I am excited not only be in attendance at their Vancouver show this Friday at the Biltmore, but to also be setting the show up on the musical tip, being the house DJ for the night.
