URP Radio -- June 14, 2011 -- Crunch Time

As everything else in the city of Vancouver this week, the Urban Renewal Project is operating in the shade cast by Game 7 of the Stanley Cup Finals. One more win will send Vancity into an absolute frenzy, so consider tonight's show the warm-up! We put it together after the Double Shot, but we actually selected a Boston artist to feature this week. FOL. However, regardless of where Termanology hails from, there's no denying the quality of Cameo King II. The usual suspects are present on this record; Statik Selektah, Freeway, Joell Ortiz, Bun B, Slaine and many, many more make appearances as every track features at least one artist. Check it out, and remember to support the real

We played a ton of tunes tonight from the likes of Shad, Sean Price, Pacewon & Mr. Green, Elzhi, Action Bronson, Nas and more. Check out that new Nas if you haven't already!

URP Radio -- March 29, 2010 -- J-Bru in your area

With March winding down, we decided to kick off the show with a Big-M/2Face Al double shot of our favourite tracks from albums released this month. It was a good month for Hip-Hop, with Raekwon, Reks, Lupe Fiasco, Pharoahe Monch, Zion I & The Grouch, Snoop Dogg and Wiz Khalifa dropping albums, among others. It was tough to narrow it down, but we went with Pharoahe Monch's "Clap (One Day)" featuring Showtyme & DJ Boogie Blind and "Race Against Time" by 1982 (Termanology & Statik Selektah) featuring Bun B & Josh Xanthus. Both solid, conscious tracks that are guaranteed to get your head nodding. In case you haven't heard them, check out the URP Facebook Pagee to hear both. Think they suck? Tell us what you were liking in March!

We were then joined by Halifax mainstay, J-Bru. J is currently on a massive Canada-wide tour with veteran Classified, so we appreciate him doing an interview with us right after rocking a set! We discussed the tour, coming up in Halifax and threw some March Madness and Jordan chatter in there as well. We've been giving J-Bru lots of spins lately so if you're not familiar yet, hit him up on Twitter.com/BruPrintMusic, Halfliferecords.ca and shortly on LiveVision.ca. Don't sleep on one of Canada's top MCs!

Make sure you head over to the URP Facebook Page once again to get down on some free DJ Quik and 9th Wonder downloads! Definitely worth a click or two so get on it!

J-Bru, The Roots, Atmosphere, Styles P, Saukrates and JD Era were among the artists that got some burn on the URP tonight. Make sure to keep it locked right here and on www.URPRadio.Podomatic.com for all the latest the Urban Renewal Project has to offer!

URP Tuesdays -- First of 2011!

We're back in the spot for 2011! Same dope formula, new year!

We kicked off the new year with a Double Shot from new EP from Termanology & Statik Selektah, collectively known as 1982. It's entitled The Evening News and is most likely tracks that didn't quite make the cut for their LP, released a few months ago. We joked that the tracks were throw-aways, but that 1982 throw-aways were better than most rappers' albums. While it is only 8 tracks long, it is a good grab on iTunes for the price! Check it out for sure.

We got into our favourite albums of 2010, with Freeway & Jake One's The Stimulus Package, The Roots' How I Got Over, Nas & Damien Marley's Distant Relatives, Termanology & Statik Selektah's 1982 and Rustee Juxx & Marco Polo's The Execution topping the URP list. Honorable mention to Curren$y's Pilot Talk and Pilot Talk II.

Tons of tunes in the mix as well, including some J. Cole, Curren$y, Pigeon Hole, Saukrates & Drake, and even some Dirt Nasty tonight! We also got into two separate 2010 Rap-Ups, one We've all been crazy busy over the holidays but expect this week's podcast relatively shortly, as well as a couple of other ones we haven't put up for download yet. Stay tuned!
