January 12 PODCAST -- Global Syndicate

We decided to skip the Double Shot to get right into the madness that is the URP's opening mix! Tons of goodness though, so don't get emotional about the phantom Double Shot. It'll be back next week!

Vancity's own Global Syndicate rolled through the studio to let the people know what's up with Vancouver's best kept secret. The collective is no joke and will be opening for the legendary Raekwon the Chef on his upcoming Canadian tour. Keep an eye out for them because they are doing big things! Hit them up on MySpace at www.MySpace.com/WritePathEnt.

Big props go out to Emotionz for holding down the longest running Hip-Hop night in Vancouver. Unfortunately, Monday Night Live will be coming to a conclusion at the end of February. Emotionz will still be rocking the back room of Shine with Dubstep every Wednesday though, so he won't be too far. Congratulations go out to him on running MNL very well and best of luck to him in the future!

December 28, 2009 -- Guest DJ sets from Big Jacks & DJ Nana

We decided to forgo the usual Double Shot this week and get into a guest DJ set from Toronto's Big Jacks. The aim of the mix was to pay homage to the past decade of Hip-Hop, which Jacks did perfectly by highlighting the Diplomats, Kanye West, J-Dilla, Alchemist and more! Hit him up at www.MySpace.com/BigJacks.

Another Ontario DJ then blessed us with a nice set. Waterloo's NaNa came through the studio and gave DJ Sage a rest and hit off a dope mix of his own. We had a lot to discuss with the DJ, producer and MC last week, so make sure you check out that podcast as well! Hit NaNa up at www.MySpace.com/DeeJayNaNa

Garrett from North Starr Entertainment and Chronico Music Group came through and dropped some knowledge, recollections on the past year and dropped some big news on some acts he's going to be bringing to Vancouver. Among others, we should look forward to seeing Raekwon The Chef at Boss Nightclub in early February! Check out www.NorthStarrEnt.com as well as www.ChronicoMusicGroup.com & www.ChronicoMusicGroup.com/cinfamous to keep up!

Many thanks go out to Big Jacks, DJ NaNa and Garrett for helping us make our last show of the year one to remember! We also ended the show by dropping Skillz' 2009 Rap Up! Good stuff! CLICK HERE to download the final podcast of the decade!!

December 22, 2009 PODCAST - DJ NaNa

What it is!

We started the night off right with a Double Shot from Strong Arm Steady's new album, Stoney Jackson, which won't be available until January 26, 2010! Exclusive! It's being released on the legendary Stones Throw Records and sounds absolutely smooth and very dope. Don't sleep on this one because it will be an Album-of-the-Year candidate as soon as it drops!

We then got into an interview with Toronto's own DJ NaNa, who's been doing it big on the DJ, producer and Emcee tip. His work spans from his hometown of Waterloo and North America all the way to South Africa. He spoke on the importance of relationships in Hip-Hop, different scopes of Hip-Hop, mixtapes, production, Rich Kidd, the Vancouver scene and plenty more. Check him out www.MySpace.com/DeeJayNana because he's got a lot to say and is definitely doing big things! If you're in the Vancouver area this week, NaNa will be at Mint Nightclub on December 26th, 2009! He was also talking to us from the women's washroom at a club because he was trying to get some quiet to do the interview! That's a new one...

There was a ton of goodness tonight, music-wise. The Clipse, Tona, Souls Of Mischief, Jeff Spec & NaRai, Freeway, Nas and many more found their way into the mix.
