URP Tuesdays -- May 31, 2011 -- Feeling the Bass

We were back in full effect tonight, closing out the month of May in a positive way with our Double Shot of our choice cuts from the last 31 days. The Big M pick was Elzhi's version of Represent (surprise, surprise...), since it is a very tall order to go in on one of DJ Premier's best beats and not be outshined by Nas' mastery on Illmatic. Check the URP Facebook group to download "Elmatic" for free, you will not be disappointed! 2Face Al selected "Random Call" by Random Axe (Sean Price, Guilty Simpson & Black Milk), which gets us amped for the June 14th release of the Random Axe LP!

We were then joined by a veteran producer and Grammy winner, Chin, who has put down production for a laundry list of Hip-Hop artists including K'Naan, Drake, The Clipse, Eminem, 50 Cent and countless more. Chin will be in town this weekend (June 4th & 5th), hosting a Hip-Hop Production Masterclass at The Nimbus School of Recording Arts. Register now and get input on your music from a true production genius! Vancouver has been hosting many conventions such as this recently, which are a great way to gain valuable experience about the music industry. Young artists listen up!

We were shoulders deep in good music tonight, bumping everything from Common to Saukrates, Random Axe to Classified, Souls of Mischief to Pharoahe Monch, so there was a little something for every Hip-Hop head!

URP Tuesdays -- May 17th, 2011 -- Faces in the Crowd

We welcomed ourselves back to Co-Op Radio following last week's hiatus by bringing back the legendary, amazing, mythical, tantalizing DOUBLE SHOT! Will it remain? Will it return from whence it came? Only time will tell. Alls we know is that we churned out a couple of tracks for the people, coming from Edo G's new album, "Face In The Crowd". Another nice release from Edo G, who speaks to the Golden Era crowd on this record. "I Was There" and "Drink Up" were the tracks chosen to get your attention, now check out the rest of the album. And remember, make sure to support good music!

We also got into a lengthy Black Moon set, in honour of their May 18th visit to Vancouver. There is no shortage of Black Moon classics, so we got into a ton of tunes from the Boot Camp Clik veretans, as well as some Wais P, Elzhi, Malkovich, Shad, and many more. Don't forget to log onto www.CoOpRadio.org and become a Co-Op member to keep artists like these on 102.7fm CFRO! Tell 'em the URP is your favourite show!

Make sure to visit the Urban Renewal Project Facebook Page, because we give you the business when it comes to that dang Hip-Hop music. Follow us on Twitter as well! Flex your social media muscles!

URP Tuesdays -- May 3rd, 2011 -- Stylin' On Ya

Since we had so much heat to drop into your ears this Tuesday evening, we just dove head first into the mix. Statik Selektah, Bun B, Talib Kweli, Blackalicious, and many more found their way onto the airwaves tonight, so hopefully you were vibing as well as we were!

We were joined by the co-founder of the Stylus Group, Click, who will be holding the fourth annual It Starts With The DJ conference at Fortune Sound Club in Vancouver on Saturday, May 7th., with a legendary special guest: DIAMOND D, along with Flipout, Kyle Kraft, Justin Wachtel, DJ Arems, GMAN, and plenty more industry players throughout the event. If you are an aspiring DJ/MC/Producer or are simply curious about the music industry, this is an event you won't want to miss! As if that wasn't smooth enough, Diamond D will also be playing a FREE show at Fortune the night before on May 6th. Not so bad right? Get out there!

Also, head over to the Urban Renewal Project Facebook Page for some dope downloads, including the greatest Hip-Hop Demos and The Tical Files.
