September 22nd, 2009 PODCAST!

RIP Anthony Williams aka Roc Raida -- 1972-2009

We skipped the Double Shot this week in order to throw down a little tribute mix to the Grandmaster Roc Raida. The legendary producer, DJ and turntablist will be greatly missed.

We were then joined by Seattle MC, D-Black. Although he just dropped a record, D-Black will be retiring from Hip-Hop in order to join the ministry shortly. We got the low-down on what to expect from the album, as well as what he hopes to achieve with his new venture. Check him out at www.MySpace.com/Dblackmuzik.

We also had Jay Kin come through the studio and premier an absolutely hot track. We discussed his future plans, which include another trip to Japan to lay down some new material. Check him out at www.MySpace.com/JayKin and make sure you get a copy of "On The Humble", out now!

We had a host of great music on our No-BS show in the name of the late Roc Raida. King Reign, Saukrates, Masta Killa, Ghostface, Kurupt & Freeway, A&E and many more. We also analyzed a legendary top-9 list of rappers who need to change their monikers which is all kinds of out there! Why not hit 'play' right now? Buckshot & KRS-One f/ Melanie Fiona & Naledge - Past, Present, Future

URP Radio -- September 15, 2009 -- PODCAST-- FINALLY!

We started our night off by featuring the new Duck Down Records release, "Survival Skills" by Buckshot & KRS-One. This album is dope on first listen and NOT one to be slept on especially with all the Canadian talent on it: Marco Polo, K’Naan, Moss, and Melanie Fiona. Buckshot, his flow is ridiculous on this album at times outshining KRS on the record, but both MCs are lyrical monsters and this is evident as soon as you pop the disc in your deck. Check it out! www.DuckDown.com

We then caught our white whale, so to speak. We were finally joined by the one and only Saukrates (the Dr. Dre of the Canadian hip-hop scene). This Canadian Hip-Hop icon had a lot to say about diversifying, remixing and collaborating, up-coming and bubbling Canadian talent, and why it's good to see the glass half full as opposed to half empty. You won't want to miss this interview or the subsequent Saukrates mix, so make sure you download the podcast! Check out Big Soxx online at www.MySpace.com/Saukrates for general information, tour dates, video, and even free music!

What's good party people?

We set it off by featuring The Hilltop Hoods new album, State Of The Art. This Australian trio has been putting it down for nearly two decades and have polished their craft quite nicely during that time. Check them out at www.HilltopHoods.com for information, tour dates and plenty more!

We were then joined by legendary West Coast icon and official DJ of Snoop Dogg, DJ Jam. He got into his origins in Hip Hop and how he first linked up with the legends of the classic Death Row Records, his fondest memories of the past 20 years as well as who we should be on the lookout for from the West Coast. Check Jam out at www.DJJam.com for tour dates, he might just be in a city near you!

O-Dog also launched into an interview of his own with ATL's own Lady X, who discussed her influences, beginnings in Hip Hop and pretty much what Lady X is all about! Hit her up at www.MySpace.com/ArtistLadyX for information, album details and tour dates!

We also got into a mass amount of hot music from Erick Sermon, Famous, Jay-Z, Trick Daddy and a whole lot more! Check out the podcast on www.UrbanRenewalProject.net right now and rock that in your headphones, home stereo or your car! You won't be disappointed!

Nice tracks from this week's URP Radio

Here are just a few of the highlights of this week's show!

Famous - The Declaration (Produced by Burd & Keyz)

O.C. & A.G. - Think About It

Jay-Z - Thank You (Produced by Kanye West & No I.D.)

M.O.P. f/ Termanology - Crazy (Produced by Statik Selektah)

Back again! We had to take a brief hiatus on account of DJ Sage connecting and doing shows out in Toronto all last week.

We are back and better than ever though! We were joined live in studio by Seattle's own Khingz. As his website says, "if punk rock and blues met in a dark cigarette smoke hidden speak easy in Gotham City and overwhelmed by jazz induced lust bore a child they raised in a ghetto to an alternative sound track you’d get Khingz." This is the truth, as Khingz brings passion and an honest, grassroots style every time he touches the microphone. He also got into an INSANE marathon freestyle, so check out the podcast because you don't want to miss out on it! Don't forget to hit up his website, www.Khingz.com.

The birthday boy, Vancity's Nicest, Jay Kin also slid into the studio to kick it with us. He also kicked a crazy birthday freestyle and chopped it up with us about what was next for the coast-to-coast MC. Check him out at www.MySpace.com/JayKin for show dates, videos and all the info you need! Don't forget to pick up a copy of "On The Humble" at Dipt, Beatstreet Records and online.

Our weekly Emotionz segment was back on track this week as the man running Vancity's longest standing HipHop night joined us on the phone to discuss the most recent Rent Money battle, Snak The Ripper's Sex Machine album release party, and what's next for Monday Night Live at The Modern! Hit him up at www.MySpace.com/Emotionz for all the latest on Monday Night Live, tour dates and more.
