URP Tuesdays!

Off the Big M and Salazar playlist tonight:

URP Radio -- Big M & Salazar Edition

We're back earlier than expected! Our tunes warrior, DJ Sage, was taking the night off so it was on us to hold it down this week. All we did was throw down a YouTube DJ set for the ages. No big deal.

We kicked off with a Double Shot from an album that actually came out already but that we didn't get to for some reason, Ghostface Killah's Apollo Kids, courtesy of Def Jam Records. Another solid release from Pretty Toney, but is that really a surprise? There are definitely some gems on this album, which features Method Man, Joell Ortiz, Redman, Raekwon and several more. You never get bored listening to a Ghostface album, that's for sure.

We then accosted the airwaves with everything you can imagine, with a fairly eclectic mix to close out 2010!

The transitions were a little rough but we still dropped some Ghostface, Saukrates, Rascalz, Jeff Spec, Sean Price, Big L, Guru, and even some Lord Tariq & Peter Gunz on ya.

Keep up with us on the Facebook page and on www.URPRadio.Podomatic.com over into the new year!

URP Tuesdays: Saigon The Yardfather

This is it! Last show of 2010!

It's been a very solid year for Hip-Hop releases, don't let the Young Money takeover fool you! Although even that camp had some solid releases. Big up to Drake!

We were joined with an MC who has paid more dues than most in the music business: Saigon. He has found a home with Suburban Noize Records and surrounded himself with quality movers and shakers and as a result, his debut LP will finally see the light of day! The Greatest Story Never Told is scheduled to hit shelves on February 15th, 2011! We discussed this project, which features Just Blaze, Swizz Beatz, Faith Evans, Devin The Dude and many more, as well as his work with Statik Selektah, and of course, why everything that glitters ain't gold. Make sure to check out the interview with the Yardfather in the podcast soon! You can also pre-order The Greatest Story Never Told RIGHT HERE!

We had to fit a lot of chatter into a short period of time tonight, including a Ghostface Killah album comparison, highlights of 2010, and much more. Expect our first show of the new year to be the 2010 retrospective edition of the URP, as there are still some quality releases due out before December is up!

Urban Renewal Project for December 7th 2010 -- DIGGIN' IT!

Once again, it was on and we got right into it by featuring a track from the new Redman - Reggie mixtape, along with the new DJ Premier presents: Year Round Records - Get Used To Us.

Both mixtapes feature a lot of tracks that heavier hip hop heads have already heard, but they are still dope nonetheless. We also came through with our last song of the night and made in a world premiere as we showcased the unreleased Tre Nyce ft. Capone - Money Over Here track. Keep your ears peeled for Tre Nyce as we have it on good authority that BIG THINGS are planned for 2011. We look forward to that.

We got into all sorts of heat blazing the city's speakers with some Joell Ortiz, Redman, Saukrates, Tru Paz and more. Best believe DJ Sage was on point as always. Shoutout to Big M who was missing this week due to injury. He saved a busload of small children from a fire caused by music industry A&Rs who also wielded laser beams and blue-tooth headsets.

Aside from that we did what we did. The URP IS WHO YOU THOUGHT THEY WERE.

As always, stay tuned for the podcasts and have yourselves a sexual Holiday season.

Looks like the URP is on a Christmas break and we will be on hiatus on December 21st and 28th. Sorry but we do this shit for free! What else you want for free?

Here are some links then. Debt. Paid.

URP Radio -- November 30, 2010 -- Vantastic!

We're back again, after a one-week hiatus!

We didn't miss a beat this week, other than the fact we didn't do a Double Shot. We just got right into the music and let the music speak for itself! Props to anyone who checked out J. Cole at Fortune Sound Club last Tuesday (November 23rd). Respect to Vancouver MC, Son Real, who held it down as the shows opener as well. If you didn't go, you missed out!

Vancouver's own MC collective, Elekwent Folk, also joined us in our return to the airwaves tonight. They are taking their local Vantastic event on the road and over the water to Victoria this time around, so if you're one of the many Hip-Hop addicts over on Vancouver Island, make sure you come out and show your love! Moka Only, Panther, Headspace, The Elekwent Folk and more will be taking the stage on Tuesday, December 7th at Lucky Bar in Victoria. Get all the information on the Vantastic: Live In Victoria event page on Facebook!

Plenty of good music tonight, including a live jam from the Elekwent Folk. We also got into tracks from Anami Vice, Jay Kin, Clipse, Son Real, J. Cole and many more... Stay tuned for this podcast and our last one as well, right here on the URP Blog and on www.URPRadio.Podomatic.com.

Also, we must pay our respects to a fallen Canadian comedy legend, Leslie Nielsen, who passed away from Pneumonia on November 28th, 2010. Hs street credibility was also through the roof, as he made movies with OJ Simpson. He went peacefully, in his sleep.

URP Tuesdays - RIP ODB

We kicked it off with a Double Shot courtesy of Wu-Tang Clan member, Masta Killa. The album is entitled "Wu-Tang: The Next Chamber" and has a lot of rarities, as well as some cuts we haven't heard. The man who we credit for pulling the Wu back together with his solo debut, "No Said Date", has another solid release under his belt even though not all the tracks are new. Features include GZA, RZA, Raekwon, Pete Rock, Timbo King, Prodigal Sunn, RA The Rugged Man and Killah Priest. Check it!

We got into tons of good music, including a brief Ol' Dirty Bastard tribute. November 13th was the 6th anniversary of the most recognizable Wu-Tang member's passing. Check out the Urban Renewal Project on Facebook for the official video for Raekwon's tribute track, "Ason Jones". We also played some Kanye West, Common, Dr. Dre, Warren G, Joe Budden, Alex Dimez, Moka Only and many more!

URP Tuesdays -- Anami Vice

Unfortunately, we didn't have time to get into a Double Shot tonight, but that's not to say that there weren't some good releases. Cee-Lo, Zion I, Eligh, Kid Cudi and Lord Jamar all dropped some material for the masses so do not sleep!

We were joined by an up-and-comer by the name of Anami Vice, who is coming with some refreshing, hearable and digestable material that draws some comparisons to Devin The Dude (courtesy of DJ Sage). Make sure you head over to www.AnamiVice.com and check out some of his tunes ASAP! Anami will be rocking at Bar None in the Yaletown area of Vancouver along with Okay City and more, so you have a chance to see him first-hand! Don't sleep!

Plenty of good talk tonight as well as the usual incredible music selection, including Anami Vice, Reks, Kanye featuring Pete Rock and Jay-Z, Talib Kweli, Freeway and many more. Check out the podcast shortly on www.URPRadio.Podomatic.com and right here on the URP blog!

URP Tuesdays -- Angerville in the spot!

Another Tuesday is in the books!

We kicked off with a Double Shot from Devin The Dude's new album, Gotta Be Me, courtesy of Real Talk Entertainment. You know what to expect from Devin... laid back, everyman rhymes about the finer things in life. This album is no different and Devin fans will not be disappointed with his latest effort. Make sure you check out the album from one of the good guys in Hip-Hop!

We were then joined live in studio by Fortunato, one half of the Toronto-based duo, Angerville. The team has been making moves and has been in the Lower Mainland and Vancouver Island and Fortunato was good enough to stop by the station tonight and chop it up with us about the pros and cons of being an artist, collaborations from province-to-province and what's on the horizon for Angerville! Check them out at www.Angerville.tv ASAP and keep up with all things Angerville.

Plenty of tracks from Marco Polo, Angerville, Jeff Spec & Moka Only, The Beatnuts, Devin the Dude and more found their way into the mix tonight. On fire! Co-Op Radio's audio logger is also back in business, so expect the last two podcasts to be up ASAP on www.URPRadio.Blogspot.com and www.URPRadio.Podomatic.com soon, as well as this week's!

URP Tuesdays -- October 26, 2010

Another solid Tuesday in the books...

We featured a much anticipated album from a pair of URP favourites, Termanology and producer Statik Selektah, collectively known as 1982. The self titled album is serious business, as is to be expected from these two artists. Statik is always on point with the production, while you'd have to look pretty hard to find a lame Termanology verse. Some solid features on this one, including Xzibit, Bun B, MOP, and Inspectah Deck and more share the mic with Term and definitely make this album one of the must-cop discs of the year. Run, don't walk to your nearest music retailer (or iTunes) and get this one!

We also discussed piracy, the San Francisco Giants winning the World Series (soon) and more. Unfortunately, technical difficulties prevented us from touching base with Northwestern MC, E-Dawg. We'll get you next week!

Tons of good tunes from The Geto Boys, 9th Wonder, Solitaire, Big L, J. Cole and more, so make sure you check out the podcast. Unfortunately, our audio logger is giving us all sorts of problems. Visit www.CoOpRadio.org to contribute to the station and become a member! The Co-Op Radio website is also the only place you can get last week's and this week's show for the moment, so adjust your downloading ritual accordingly!

URP Tuesdays -- 9th Prince feature, Dogg Pound set + tickets

We had to give some longtime Wu affiliates some shine this week, featuring a double shot from "One Man Army", the new album from Killarmy's 9th Prince which just came out courtesy of Babygrande. This is a good one for the dedicated Wu faithful, as he sticks with the style that made the Clan so successful. Features include the RZA, Kinetic, Outline and a few more. Check it out quick.. we could all use a Wu fix before Ghostface's new album comes out.

Since Kurupt's gonna be putting on a show, it was only natural to an extended DPG set that definitely brought back some memories... We also gave away some tickets to the Thursday October 14th show at Bar None in Vancouver, so if you're the Kurupt fan who was able to crack our staggering skill testing question, have a blast.

Tons of other tunes too from Atmosphere, Shad, E-40, De La Soul, Common and plenty more. Great vibe to tonight's show, just download the podcast soon and see for yourself!

September 28 PODCAST -- El Da Sensei feature

We're catching up! Here's the September 28th podcast, which features a double shot from El Da Sensei's new album on which he worked almost exclusively with The Returners. Boom-bap Hip-Hop is still alive in 2010 and this project illustrates that quite well. Check it out!

URP Tuesdays -- DJ D-Sharp interview and more

We got it in this week, featuring another solid release from Duck Down Records. "Live From The Tape Deck" is a collaborative album courtesy of producer !llmind and Skyzoo. Skyzoo, !llmind and Duck Down Records are all favourites of the Urban Renewal Project so it's really no surprise that we chose to feature this album over others that were released today. We weren't disappointed by any means, enjoying the disc that boasts features from Styles P, Buckshot, Sean Price, Torae and more. Check this out if you're a fan of Duck Down's catalogue, and good music in general!

After burning up the airwaves for a little bit, we got into a telephone interview with DJ D-Sharp, who was calling from and representing the Hip-Hop hotbed that is Oakland, California. Once playing the background and cutting and producing for other artists, Sharp has come to the forefront and currently has a nice EP ("Definition Of A Star") available now and it is definitely worth checking out. Oh yeah, did we mention it's free? Well, it is. We discussed being in the forefront, support, co-signigning, hip-hop politics and of course, the album, throughout the course of the interview and you won't want to miss that either! Check out DJ D-Sharp at www.TheRealDJDSharp.com and all the social networks!

We played some amazing tunes tonight, including classic cuts from the Wu-Tang Clan, Dr. Dre, Cesar Comanche, J. Cole, Smif-N-Wessun, DJ D-Sharp and plenty more. Expect this podcast soon right here and www.URPRadio.Podomatic.com.

URP -- September 21, 2010 - PODCAST

Another great show to rock with for another Tuesday night in Vancouver or wherever you're at! We kicked off with a Double Shot from Ski Beatz much-anticipated album, 24 Hour Karate School. Ski Beatz has been putting it down for a minute, producing classic cuts for Jay-Z, Camp Lo, Curren$y, Original Flavor and Big Pun, so it's a logical assumption that the beats will be top-notch on this one. Ski lays down a hard-hitting vibe with his production and the rhymes are provided by veterans such as Jean Grae, Camp Lo, Ras Kass as well as Curren$y, Wiz Khalifa, Jay Electronica, Stalley and more. The album is definitely worth checking out, so hit up the local music store (physical or online) and support some quality Hip-Hop!

We then got into an interview with Quite Nyce & SEEK, the Massachussets duo collectively known as RADix. We discussed their group name, producer/MC duos, and their upcoming album with none other than a personal favourite of the URP, Statik Selektah. We've heard a few cuts from the album and if the rest follows suit, it should be a classic! Check out RADix at www.RADixHIPHOP.com to keep up with releases, tour dates and more! Get your social network on through the website as well!

As usual, we burned up the airwaves with some quality tunes from the likes of Smif-N-Wessun, Pete Rock & Raekwon, Tona, Jeff Spec, Fabolous & Jay-Z, 2Pac, Bun B and plenty more.

URP Radio -- September 28, 2010 -- El Da Sensei preview

We got our hands on GT2: Nu World, the new album from former Artifacts MC, El Da Sensei & The Returners, available October 12th of this year courtesy of Coalmine Records. If you're a fan of that classic boom-bap Hip-Hop, you won't be let down by the sounds coming through your speakers. Features include Treach from Naughty By Nature, Sean Price, Bekay, Akrobatik, Reks and more spitting over some tough production from The Returners (except for the closing track, which is a remix courtesy of M-Phazes). This album is definitely a throwback to that 90s sound we all know and love. Check it out when it's officially released!

There's also tons of artists performing in Vancouver in the weeks to come, including DJ Premier, Kurupt, The Rascalz, 3-6 Mafia, K-Os, Wiz Khalifa & Yelawolf and Big Boi, so make sure you keep your eyes and ears out if you wanna catch some quality shows in the near future! Respect goes out to the promoters and venues such as Fortune Sound Club and Bar None for housing shows like these and keeping Vancouver hip-hop heads entertained!

Tons of tunes tonight from El Da Sensei, Frank Nitt & Kurupt, Immortal Technique, Defari, Joell Ortiz, J. Cole, Kanye West, Joe Blow and more! Check out the podcast (hopefully) soon on www.URPRadio.Podomatic.com and RIGHT HERE! (?)

URP Tuesdays -- September 7th, 2010

We skipped the Double Shot this week and got right into the tunes because, well, we weren't really feeling much that came out this week. Next week is looking good though, with Black Milk, Rah Digga, Rustee Juxx and Watchmen all releasing music. A deluxe edition of Pete Rock & CL Smooth's Mecca And The Soul Brother is also coming out on the 17th, including a 20 page liner booklet, unreleased versions of classic tracks, acapellas and instrumentals.

We were then joined by a friend of the show, Roc C. We featured his new album, Scapegoat, which was released digitally a couple weeks back. The physical copy was released today so it was only right that we reached out to him tonight! We discussed distribution, writing, touring, collaborating and more! Check him out at www.MySpace.com/RocThisWay and support Scapegoat! Worth every penny, no coaster.

We played tons of tracks tonight, including material from J. Cole, Roc C, Nas, Curren$y, Skyzoo, Foreign Exchange and many more... Stay tuned for the podcast on www.URPRadio.Podomatic.com and keep it locked right here for all your Urban Renewal Project needs!

URP Radio -- August 31, 2010 -- Rock The Bells wind-up

Gyeah!

I (Big M) was fortunate enough to make it to the NYC leg of the Rock The Bells tour so this week's show was giving the people a review of the best show I've ever witnessed! DJ Premier, Slick Rick, Rakim, KRS-One, Brother Ali, DJ Muggs & Ill Bill, Lauryn Hill, A Tribe Called Quest, Wu-Tang Clan, Snoop Dogg and many more tore it down and made it difficult for Guerilla Union to top this year's lineup. DOWNLOAD THE PODCAST HERE FOR THE FULL REVIEW!

We also got into a Double Shot from DJ Muggs & Ill Bill's collaboration album, Kill Devil Hills. As expected, Muggs comes with the sinister beats that have made him one of the most consistent (while underrated) producers in Hip-Hop and Ill Bill brings the energy-laden vocals that complement the beats nicely. Appearances from B-Real, Raekwon, Sean Price, Slaine, Vinnie Paz and more are nice additions to the album and contribute to making it an album worth your while!

URP Radio -- August 17, 2010 PODCAST - Roc C & The Sleepwalkas

Catching up!

We set it off with a Double Shot from the new album courtesy of our friend Roc C, "Scapegoat". We've had Roc on the show before and will be getting him back in the weeks to come to discuss the project, which we are feeling here at the URP. Hit up Roc at www.MySpace.com/RocThisWay to keep up on all the moves being made by the California vet!

We then got into an interview with Brooklyn mainstays, The Sleepwalkas. We discussed their history in the game, collaborations with the likes of Sadat X, plans for their next project as well as how the collective came together to put out Hip-Hop music that pays homage to the old, looks ahead to the future and deals with the present. Check out The Sleepwalkas on pretty much every social networking site, including Facebook, Twitter, MySpace, Bandcamp and Reverb Nation!

Back Again! URP Tuesdays -- Rock The Bells NYC review

We apologize for the blog hiatus but we are back in full effect!

I was fortunate enough to make it to the NYC leg of the Rock The Bells tour so this week's show was giving the people a review of the best show I've witnessed! Check out the podcast for the review!

As usual, we got into some great tunes tonight and you will be able to check out the podcast shortly right here and on www.URPRadio.Podomatic.com. We will also be adding the last two podcasts to the blog as well so stay tuned!

URP Tuesdays -- August 17th, 2010

Tons of tracks, including new material from KRS-One & True Master, some Big L, The Sleepwalkas, Daytona, Marco Polo, The Roots, Senor Kaos and many more. URP Tuesdays -- August 3rd, 2010

Another Tuesday means you will be absorbing the best Hip-Hop has to offer! Underground, mainstream, classic, new and old, we spin it all.

We featured Wale's new mixtape, "More About Nothing" as our Double Shot this week. The follow-up to his acclaimed 2008 Seinfeld-themed "Mixtape About Nothing" definitely lives up to its predecessor and showcases what Wale is all about. Even if you weren't feeling his debut LP, you'll enjoy this mixtape. Here's hoping this style of record continues onto his sophmore LP. Download the mixtape here, we got it a few posts down.

No interviews this week, which means tons of tunes in rotation tonight. Everything from Jay-Z to The Sleepwalkas to The Clipse to Choclair, we got you covered! We also ran down a ton of August show dates in the Vancouver area from local favourite Snak The Ripper. He's on tour with none other than R.A. The Rugged Man and will be tearing it down once again, this time with some all-ages shows! Hit the podcast to get the dates and check out his FACEBOOK PAGE to keep up with Snak!

Check out the podcast RIGHT HERE and at www.URPRadio.Podomatic.com shortly!

URP Tuesdays!

We kicked it off once again by featuring what is reportedly Slum Village's final studio album. The group has had its fair share of hardship over the years, losing the legendary producer J. Dilla in February of 2006, and Baatin in July of 2009. Nonetheless, they have written the group's final chapter with Villa Manifesto. Both Baatin and Dilla make posthumous appearances on this very good album that deserves to be supported. Make sure you check this disc out or you will be stuck regretting not knowing what's what!

DJ Quickie Mart was first up to bat tonight, chatting with us live from New Orleans. The producer/DJ has been making big moves bouncing back and forth from NO to LA, working with Freddie Gibbs, Gotham Green and many more but took the time out of his schedule to chop it up with us! We discussed the struggles facing New Orleans in the light of the BP oil spill, old school samples, the Haze series and more! Check out The Haze Diaries Vol. 3 with Gotham Green and keep up with Quickie Mart at www.MySpace.com/QuickieMart and www.DJQuickieMart.com.

We were then joined by Lee, one half of the Vancouver duo, Pigeon Hole. They have just recently released Age Like Astronauts, which is a great album that should not be slept on. If you are a fan of the Sweatshop Union (which Pigeon Hole are a part of), you will love this LP. We discussed the group's production process, touring and more! Make sure you check out the album ASAP and stay on top of things by visiting www.MySpace.com/PigeonHoleMusic or their URBnet page!

We also got into a ton of tunes tonight, including material from Kooley High, Blaq Poet, LL Cool J, The Kid Daytona, Slum Village, Gotham Green & Quickie Mart, Pigeon Hole and tons more. Don't miss this one! Look out for the podcast very shortly, we will have the podcast available on www.URPRadio.Blogspot.com and www.URPRadio.Podomatic.com VERY shortly!

As promised, here is this week's podcast. We were a 2-man crew for the show and it worked out pretty well regardless... plenty of tunes, including some new Rick Ross (best beat selector in the game right now), lots of Canadian material, and a lot of crazy tunes. We also had Toronto MC, D-Sisive, join us over the phone to discuss his new album, Vaudeville. Don't sleep on this podcast, one of the best shows of the year!

URP Tuesdays!

We are broadcasting LIVE from a sweatbox studio on another Tuesday night! We dove right into a double shot from Rakaa's new album, Crown Of Thorns, available today! We had the Dilated Peoples MC on the show a couple weeks back, and he promised a heater of an album and did not disappoint! We've been spinning some cuts from the album in the past month or so and the project is solid! Definitely check this one out ASAP.

Following a short mix, we were joined by a friend of the show, the outspoken Toronto MC by the name of D-Sisive. D has been making some big moves in the past few years, including collaborations with Saukrates and releasing albums at a fast pace. We discussed his new disc, Vaudeville, his liasons with West coast artists such as Moka Only and The Sweatshop Union, his unique and artistic approach to Hip-Hop and the renewed appreciation he has received since making his return to music. Definitely check out D-Sisive at www.MySpace.com/DSisive and www.Urbnet.com/artist-dsisive.asp

We were working with an abbreviated crew tonight, with only DJ Sage and Big M in the spot. We held it down though, and got into plenty of great tracks, no lie. Curren$y, D-Sisive, Rick Ross, Stat Quo, Pigeon Hole, Crooked I, Buckshot, J. Cole and plenty more! Download the podcast real soon at www.URPRadio.Podomatic.com and RIGHT HERE.

URP Radio -- July 13, 2010 -- Kooley High & Son Real!

We set it off with another much-anticipated Double Shot, featuring Capone-N-Noreaga's latest disc, “The War Report 2”. Whenever an artist puts '2' after the title of a classic album, it creates some pretty high expectations. Unfortunately for CNN, the general consensus from the URP is that TWR2 doesn't deliver enough quality tracks to be considered on the same level as the original War Report. While there are some solid tracks and features (Nas, Raekwon and more) on the album, it does fall a bit short. It's still worth checking out if you're a diehard QB fan though!

We were then joined by Urban Renewal Project favourites, North Carolina representers, Kooley High. The collective has been putting it down for a minute now, and have their debut album, Eastern Standard Time, dropping on July 27th of this year. We discussed the group dynamic within Kooley High, the feeling of finally dropping an album and much more. Check out www.KooleyHigh.com for all the latest news, tour dates, downloads and more from Kooley High! Keep an eye out for “Eastern Standard Time”, which will be available wherever fine music is sold (iTunes, Amazon, ect...).

We also had Vancouver's own SonReal stop by the studio to plug his new, free mixtape, entitled “The Lightyear Mixtape” and his performance at Fortune Sound Club on July 14th. The kid's been in the game for a minute, released a couple albums and is making big moves with some very notable names in the Canadian Hip-Hop scene. Check out www.SonReal.ca for tour dates, downloads, videos and all the latest from SonReal!

Make absolutely sure you check out this week's podcast! Tons of new tunes, including new Paul Wall (which is actually crazy), Skyzoo, Bun B, Rakaa, Stat Quo, Jeff Spec, Kooley High and many more!

URP Radio -- PODCAST -- July 6 -- Cool Nutz!

We got into a Summer-friendly Double Shot this week, featuring Big Boi's new album, Sir Lucious Left Foot: The Son of Chico Dusty. This is Big Boi's first album without his partner in rhyme, Andre 3000, not counting Speakerboxxx/The Love Below. However, Andre does make an appearance on a bonus track, joining other heavyweights such as T.I., B.o.B., Jamie Foxx, Sleepy Brown, George Clinton, Too $hort and Khujo. Check this funky spaced-out album ASAP! Perfect for Summer time cruising!

We were then joined by Portland's own, Cool Nutz. This Northwest veteran has been putting it down for a minute now and dropped “The Incredible” on June 15th of this year. He's been in the game since 1993, and shows no signs of slowing down. We discussed touring, working with various producers, and his involvement in Portland radio. 1June 29, 2010 -- Jeff Spec, @-Large, & Marco Polo feature!

We switched up the Double Shot format this week... Toronto's own Marco Polo is on the grind and just released "The Stupendous Adventures of Marco Polo", so we got into some cuts from the new albums as well as classics from one of the best producers in the game right now. The new album is a banger and should be supported! Features include Large Pro, Rustee Juxx, Skyzoo and plenty more! Don't sleep...

We also had the privilege of having a Vancity veteran from The City Planners, Jeff Spec. We discussed his new project, "Sneakerboxxx", working and touring with a live band, and the rise of online distribution as opposed to the old school techniques. The album sounds real nice and features the likes of Moka Only, NaRai and more. Check Jeff Spec out at www.JeffSpec.BandCamp.com, www.Twitter.com/JeffSpec, and www.Facebook.com/JeffSpec!

We also had the pleasure of having DJ @Large from Winnipeg come by and lay down most of the music for us tonight. Make sure you check out his radio show, The Dope Joints, at http://dopespot.podomatic.com!

We got into a sick Double Shot this week, featuring The Roots new album, "How I Got Over". As if that wasn't enough, we were also joined by Rakaa Iriscience from the grade-A group, Dilated Peoples. June 15, 2010 - PODCAST - Teekay (Dragon Fli Empire) & Fallan Soldier

We got right into the tunes tonight by featuring what is perhaps the most anticipated Canadian hip-hop album of all time, Drake’s “Thank Me Later”. Say what you will about Drake, but he has been doing it extra big with the likes of Saukrates, Jay-Z, Lil' Wayne, Young Jeezy, and plenty more. It's good to see a Canadian artists getting worldwide attention like he is. It also wouldn't hurt to support the album legally so Canadian music can get that shine in the US!

We also pulled off a 1st for us here at the Urban Renewal Project by doing an interview with 2 artists, one in-studio and one over the phone! We had Vancouver's Fallan Soldier in the spot while we linked up with Teekay (of Dragon Fli Empire) on the line from Calgary. Teekay & Fallan Soldier are embarking on the Move The Mountains tour that seeks to bridge the gap between artists in Western Canada. The tour is making stops in Nanaimo (Spice Lounge), Victoria (Lucky Bar) and Vancouver (The Cobalt - which, by the way, is no longer a metal bar) on the 17t, 18th and 19th, respectively.

You can check out Fallan Soldier online at www.Facebook.com/FallanSoldier, www.MySpace.com/FallanSoldier and www.Twitter.com/@FallanSoldier.
