URP Radio -- November 30, 2010 -- Vantastic!

We're back again, after a one-week hiatus!

We didn't miss a beat this week, other than the fact we didn't do a Double Shot. We just got right into the music and let the music speak for itself! Props to anyone who checked out J. Cole at Fortune Sound Club last Tuesday (November 23rd). Respect to Vancouver MC, Son Real, who held it down as the shows opener as well. If you didn't go, you missed out!

Vancouver's own MC collective, Elekwent Folk, also joined us in our return to the airwaves tonight. They are taking their local Vantastic event on the road and over the water to Victoria this time around, so if you're one of the many Hip-Hop addicts over on Vancouver Island, make sure you come out and show your love! Moka Only, Panther, Headspace, The Elekwent Folk and more will be taking the stage on Tuesday, December 7th at Lucky Bar in Victoria. Get all the information on the Vantastic: Live In Victoria event page on Facebook!

Plenty of good music tonight, including a live jam from the Elekwent Folk. We also got into tracks from Anami Vice, Jay Kin, Clipse, Son Real, J. Cole and many more... Stay tuned for this podcast and our last one as well, right here on the URP Blog and on www.URPRadio.Podomatic.com.

Also, we must pay our respects to a fallen Canadian comedy legend, Leslie Nielsen, who passed away from Pneumonia on November 28th, 2010. Hs street credibility was also through the roof, as he made movies with OJ Simpson. He went peacefully, in his sleep.

URP Tuesdays!

We are broadcasting LIVE from a sweatbox studio on another Tuesday night! We dove right into a double shot from Rakaa's new album, Crown Of Thorns, available today! We had the Dilated Peoples MC on the show a couple weeks back, and he promised a heater of an album and did not disappoint! We've been spinning some cuts from the album in the past month or so and the project is solid! Definitely check this one out ASAP.

Following a short mix, we were joined by a friend of the show, the outspoken Toronto MC by the name of D-Sisive. D has been making some big moves in the past few years, including collaborations with Saukrates and releasing albums at a fast pace. We discussed his new disc, Vaudeville, his liasons with West coast artists such as Moka Only and The Sweatshop Union, his unique and artistic approach to Hip-Hop and the renewed appreciation he has received since making his return to music. Definitely check out D-Sisive at www.MySpace.com/DSisive and www.Urbnet.com/artist-dsisive.asp

We were working with an abbreviated crew tonight, with only DJ Sage and Big M in the spot. We held it down though, and got into plenty of great tracks, no lie. Curren$y, D-Sisive, Rick Ross, Stat Quo, Pigeon Hole, Crooked I, Buckshot, J. Cole and plenty more! Download the podcast real soon at www.URPRadio.Podomatic.com and RIGHT HERE.
