URP -- September 21, 2010 - PODCAST

Another great show to rock with for another Tuesday night in Vancouver or wherever you're at! We kicked off with a Double Shot from Ski Beatz much-anticipated album, 24 Hour Karate School. Ski Beatz has been putting it down for a minute, producing classic cuts for Jay-Z, Camp Lo, Curren$y, Original Flavor and Big Pun, so it's a logical assumption that the beats will be top-notch on this one. Ski lays down a hard-hitting vibe with his production and the rhymes are provided by veterans such as Jean Grae, Camp Lo, Ras Kass as well as Curren$y, Wiz Khalifa, Jay Electronica, Stalley and more. The album is definitely worth checking out, so hit up the local music store (physical or online) and support some quality Hip-Hop!

We then got into an interview with Quite Nyce & SEEK, the Massachussets duo collectively known as RADix. We discussed their group name, producer/MC duos, and their upcoming album with none other than a personal favourite of the URP, Statik Selektah. URP Radio -- September 28, 2010 -- El Da Sensei preview

We got our hands on GT2: Nu World, the new album from former Artifacts MC, El Da Sensei & The Returners, available October 12th of this year courtesy of Coalmine Records. If you're a fan of that classic boom-bap Hip-Hop, you won't be let down by the sounds coming through your speakers. Features include Treach from Naughty By Nature, Sean Price, Bekay, Akrobatik, Reks and more spitting over some tough production from The Returners (except for the closing track, which is a remix courtesy of M-Phazes). This album is definitely a throwback to that 90s sound we all know and love. Check it out when it's officially released!

There's also tons of artists performing in Vancouver in the weeks to come, including DJ Premier, Kurupt, The Rascalz, 3-6 Mafia, K-Os, Wiz Khalifa & Yelawolf and Big Boi, so make sure you keep your eyes and ears out if you wanna catch some quality shows in the near future! URP Tuesdays -- September 7th, 2010

We skipped the Double Shot this week and got right into the tunes because, well, we weren't really feeling much that came out this week. Next week is looking good though, with Black Milk, Rah Digga, Rustee Juxx and Watchmen all releasing music. A deluxe edition of Pete Rock & CL Smooth's Mecca And The Soul Brother is also coming out on the 17th, including a 20 page liner booklet, unreleased versions of classic tracks, acapellas and instrumentals.

We were then joined by a friend of the show, Roc C. We featured his new album, Scapegoat, which was released digitally a couple weeks back. The physical copy was released today so it was only right that we reached out to him tonight! We discussed distribution, writing, touring, collaborating and more! I (Big M) was fortunate enough to make it to the NYC leg of the Rock The Bells tour so this week's show was giving the people a review of the best show I've ever witnessed! DJ Premier, Slick Rick, Rakim, KRS-One, Brother Ali, DJ Muggs & Ill Bill, Lauryn Hill, A Tribe Called Quest, Wu-Tang Clan, Snoop Dogg and many more tore it down and made it difficult for Guerilla Union to top this year's lineup. We also got into a Double Shot from DJ Muggs & Ill Bill's collaboration album, Kill Devil Hills. As expected, Muggs comes with the sinister beats that have made him one of the most consistent (while underrated) producers in Hip-Hop and Ill Bill brings the energy-laden vocals that complement the beats nicely. Appearances from B-Real, Raekwon, Sean Price, Slaine, Vinnie Paz and more are nice additions to the album and contribute to making it an album worth your while!
